Claude will start participating in your conversations.
Soon, the artificial intelligence chatbot will have a bidirectional voice mode.
The CEO of Anthropic has announced that the chatbot Claude will receive a series of significant updates, including memory capability. This will allow the artificial intelligence to remember information and mention it in future conversations. Although details about how this feature will work have not yet been revealed, it is expected to be available in the coming months.
Among the improvements being implemented, the ability to interact solely through voice stands out. Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, shared these updates during the World Economic Forum in Davos, explaining how the voice mode and the new memory feature will revolutionize interaction with Claude. Thanks to these updates, the chatbot will not only be able to respond in a more interactive way but also remember aspects about its users, giving it a sort of personality.
This two-way conversational mode will allow users to communicate verbally with Claude and listen to its responses, aiming to create a more natural and hands-free dialogue. However, it remains to be seen whether this new feature will make Claude feel more accessible or if it will succeed in mimicking a human in a phone interaction.
Claude's memory function will enable the chatbot to retain information from past interactions. For example, if a user mentions their favorite book, Claude will remember it in future chats, which could deepen the personalization of interactions. However, this capability also raises questions about how Claude will handle potential confusions or memory errors.
Despite the challenges, interest in Claude remains high. Amodei noted that the demand for artificial intelligence has increased significantly over the past year, leading Anthropic to push its processing capacity to the limit. The improvements to Claude are part of the company's efforts to remain competitive in a market dominated by giants like OpenAI and Google. With the integration of tools like ChatGPT and Gemini across various platforms, Anthropic aims to differentiate itself by offering a chatbot that combines voice and memory capabilities.
In this regard, Claude could emerge as a prominent competitor in the trend of developing chatbots that appear more humanlike. The goal seems to be to blur the line between a tool and a companion, where having voice and memory capabilities becomes essential for achieving deeper adoption.
