Civilization VII will have a VR version for Quest this spring.
Meta claims it will be an authentic civilization experience.
The popular video game franchise Civilization will venture into the realm of virtual reality with the launch of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII - VR, which will be available on Meta Quest devices this spring, according to announcements made by 2K and Firaxis Games. Although pricing details and a specific release date have yet to be revealed, the game promises to deliver a unique experience.
The title will feature gameplay reminiscent of a board game, utilizing the Quest’s viewing cameras to project the game into the user's physical space or a virtual museum environment that offers a personalized view based on the chosen leader. This mode allows players to switch between perspectives at any time, facilitating a dynamic experience.
In multiplayer mode, players will be able to see their opponents seated around the table, represented by the digital avatars of the leaders they have selected. This version of Civilization aims to provide what is described as the authentic Civ experience on the Quest, allowing players to choose their preferred leader to guide their civilization, a new feature that expands the classic game formula.
Additionally, it has been indicated that this installment will operate at a faster pace by default compared to other versions, considering that not all users feel comfortable using virtual reality headsets for extended periods. However, players will have the option to adjust the game speed according to their preferences.
The highly anticipated Sid Meier’s Civilization VII - VR will be available this spring, providing an opportunity to explore how it compares to the PC and console versions of the acclaimed series. Meanwhile, memories of iconic episodes of Futurama emerge, exploring similar themes of divinity and power.
