Borderlands 4 targets 2025 with a new trailer.

Borderlands 4 was unveiled at the 2024 Game Awards, where a new trailer was shown that highlighted the gameplay and announced the release date.

During The Game Awards 2024, a new trailer for Borderlands 4 was presented, giving us a glimpse of the game and its new Vault Hunters, although a specific release date for 2025 has not yet been revealed. Randy Pitchford took the stage to showcase this trailer, which combines cinematics with brief gameplay sequences. In the introduction, we see an army of psychos and aliens preparing for a confrontation in a desert, where the new villain known as Timekeeper is introduced.

The trailer offers a montage of various locations and environments, showcasing the cast of new Vault Hunters in action, firing weapons, driving vehicles, and using a new grip mechanic to explore the planet called Kairos. Although the new characters are not formally introduced, the presence of two men and two women is highlighted, including a woman with tattoos that could indicate she is a Siren, similar to Lilith and Maya. As is customary in the series, Borderlands 4 will allow cooperative gameplay with up to four players, making it easier for friends to enjoy the game together.

The Borderlands franchise is known for its irreverent humor, distinctive artistic style, and the blend of RPG elements with first-person shooting gameplay. Despite sharing certain characteristics with live-service titles, it has maintained a focus on PvE, with a strong emphasis on loot hunting. The latest trailer for Borderlands 4 showcases a wide variety of new weapons, skills, and exciting enemies that players will face, whether solo or in co-op mode.

Borderlands 4 will be released six years after the previous installment, not counting the 2022 spin-off Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Despite the criticism that Borderlands 3 received, mostly directed at its script, it became a commercial success. However, after the controversies surrounding the Borderlands movie, the new installment will need to regain the trust of its fan base. Borderlands 4 is expected to be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2025.
