Bluesky adds a mentions tab in the notifications section.
It is now easier to access your response settings.
Bluesky has introduced a new tab specifically for mentions in notifications as part of the app's update 1.96. This new functionality makes it easier to view replies or conversations in which the user has been mentioned within the platform.
Regarding replies, this update allows for easy access to settings that control how replies to posts are displayed. Users can choose between a linear format, where replies appear sequentially, or a threaded format, similar to what is found on Reddit. Additionally, there is an option to sort replies by freshness, oldness, number of "likes," "hot," and "random," the latter also known as "Poster’s Roulette."
Another interesting aspect is that if a user decides to set a custom domain as their username, the update 1.96 reserves the old .bsky.social name, preventing it from being claimed by someone else. This detail is especially useful for those who created an alternative account to protect their old username.
Bluesky experienced a significant increase in its user base throughout November, and although this growth has slowed down recently, the platform reached a total of 25 million users last week. The company plans to launch a subscription service early next year and, later, its own payments platform.
However, Bluesky faces strong competition from Meta's Threads, which continues to roll out numerous features to stand out and remind users that it has a much larger user base.
