Beats Powerbeats Pro 2: The Essentials about the New Headphones for Athletes.

Beats launches the Powerbeats Pro 2 2025, which now includes heart rate monitoring functionality.

The new Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 have finally been unveiled, closing a waiting period for fans of these headphones. The original models, which marked a milestone in the market when they were released in May 2019, remained almost unchanged for over five years until their discontinuation in October 2024. The introduction of their successor, first announced thanks to an image shared by Shohei Ohtani in September 2024, has generated excitement in the community.

The official launch of the Powerbeats Pro 2 took place on February 11, 2025, and their price remains the same as that of their predecessor: $249.99 in the United States, £249.99 in the United Kingdom, and $399.95 in Australia. This new model joins the extensive range of Beats products, which includes other options like the Solo Buds and Fit Pro.

In terms of specifications and features, the design has undergone significant improvements. The Powerbeats Pro 2 feature a reinforced hook made of nickel and titanium, which provides flexibility and comfort during use, especially in sports activities. The hook structure is 50% smaller, and the earbuds are 20% lighter than their predecessors. A notable feature is the physical button for volume control, rather than a touch panel, which many users will appreciate.

Equipped with Apple's H2 chip, the new headphones offer high-quality active noise cancellation, along with a Transparency mode and an adaptive equalizer to enhance the listening experience. They also incorporate a 9.5 mm audio driver that promises an optimized frequency range while still delivering the characteristic Beats bass power.

One of the most significant innovations is the inclusion of a heart rate sensor in each earbud, a first for Beats and Apple products. While the sensor is designed to work with various fitness applications on iOS, it has some limitations, such as prioritizing data from the Apple Watch if both devices are in use.

It is clear that Beats has made a considerable effort in the development of the Powerbeats Pro 2, and while comprehensive reviews are pending, the initial impressions are positive regarding comfort and functionality.
