Are you thinking of upgrading to Windows 11 24H2? Get ready for a long wait time, as Microsoft admits.

On older computers, Microsoft warns that installation may take several hours.

Windows 11 24H2 has begun its rollout with some ups and downs, presenting a series of bugs, although so far there have been no reports of serious issues. One of the notable features of this update is its installation time, which can be considerably long. Microsoft has acknowledged in an official thread that version 24H2 includes changes and improvements, but also warns about the length of its installation.

The company emphasizes that this update is significantly larger compared to the usual monthly updates, and in some cases, it may take several hours. It's important to mention that users can continue to use their computer during most of the installation process, although performance may be occasionally affected. Once the installation is complete, multiple restarts and a series of loading circles should be expected that hinder the use of the PC during those moments.

To provide a clearer idea of installation times, tests were conducted on different laptop models. The results revealed that installing Windows 11 24H2 can vary between one hour and one hour and 45 minutes, with the average time being around one and a half hours. This period is longer than what many users are accustomed to, especially nowadays. As expected, older laptops tend to require more time to update.

Windows 11 24H2 is being gradually rolled out, and when it is a particular device's turn, the update will be offered automatically. However, users also have the option to manually check for the update through Windows Update if they wish to be proactive in this process.
