Aqara Fully Commits to Matter and Announces Support for 50 New Device Types.
Aqara is implementing Matter compatibility for 50 new types of devices.
Aqara has expanded its support for the Matter standard, incorporating 50 types of Matter-compatible devices within its Aqara Home ecosystem. This update represents a significant advancement by allowing users to connect their Aqara devices with a wide variety of products from other brands. Until now, Aqara has maintained collaborations with well-known platforms such as Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home, but this new support for Matter aims to provide even more comprehensive integration.
The full launch of this functionality will take place later in the month with version 5.19 of Aqara Home and firmware version 4.3.5 for the Matter Controllers. Some of the types of Matter devices that will now be compatible include robotic vacuums, dimmable plugs, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, air quality sensors, and even appliances like refrigerators, ovens, and washing machines.
Additionally, the advanced Matter bridging function that was initially available on the Aqara Hub M3 will now be extended to all Aqara Matter Controllers and bridges, allowing the synchronization of Aqara device functionalities with third-party platforms that also use Matter.
Eugene You, founder and CEO of Aqara, emphasized the company's commitment to multi-platform interoperability, highlighting the importance of an open ecosystem for the widespread adoption of smart home technology. With this expansion, Aqara seeks to offer users greater flexibility and customization, thus enhancing their experience with smart home devices.
Historically, Aqara has supported Matter and recently introduced several new products at IFA 2024, specifically designed for this interoperability standard. The company appears to be well-positioned to adapt to market needs as Matter continues to expand its influence in the interaction with smart home technology.
