An increasing number of job seekers are using artificial intelligence to improve their resumes.
A report warns that artificial intelligence is enhancing resumes.
More than half of job seekers in the UK have used artificial intelligence to improve their resumes. According to recent research, 52% of British applicants have turned to this technology, a figure that rises to 65% among young Generation Z individuals.
The majority of hiring managers, 91%, believe that having a strong professional personal brand provides candidates with a competitive advantage. Moreover, recruiters have shown greater acceptance of resumes that incorporate AI, as an impressive 97% of candidates who use it manage to be called for interviews.
In the selection process, the role of artificial intelligence is expanding rapidly; 90% of hiring managers have used this tool to facilitate their work, utilizing AI to summarize resumes in 38% of cases and to filter applications in 36%. Despite this adoption, 63% of managers believe it is important for candidates to disclose their use of artificial intelligence, as transparency during interviews can give recruiters insight into the applicant's ethics and interpersonal skills.
While artificial intelligence can help applicants quickly create more effective resumes, HR teams are looking for more from candidates. 80% of them expect applicants to present a portfolio of work, and 71% value interactive resumes. In a broader context, 93% of hiring directors appreciate candidates maintaining an online presence related to their professional careers.
With the ongoing global skills shortage, it is evident that job seekers must add additional layers to their applications and personal brands to be considered for new roles. Leveraging social media, design tools, and artificial intelligence has become a crucial strategy to stand out during the job search. As noted by a people leader at Canva, creating a professional brand and designing a visual resume have become essential steps to securing the desired job.
