An astounding 75% of U.S. offices used an AI tool last year, raising concerns.

The adoption of ChatGPT in the workplace in the United States increased gradually, reaching 72% in 2024.

A study conducted by DeskTime between January 2023 and December 2024 has revealed that 75.9% of offices worldwide have incorporated ChatGPT into their workflows. This research, which surveyed 2,385 employees from 97 companies using their time-tracking tool, shows a continuous growth in the adoption of this artificial intelligence tool.

According to the data, by December 2024, India leads in the integration of ChatGPT, with an impressive 92% of the surveyed offices utilizing the tool. In the United States, however, adoption has increased from 68% in 2023 to 72% in 2024, although this growth is more moderate compared to other regions. Nonetheless, the time spent on ChatGPT has grown significantly, with 42.6% of employees reporting more frequent use.

The study also reveals an increase in individual adoption of the tool in the country, reaching 28.3% of employees in 2024, a notable rise from 17% in 2023. This suggests that, despite the growing incorporation of AI in the workplace, company-wide implementation has been slower. Additionally, 75% of U.S. offices use AI tools, including ChatGPT and similar platforms, representing a slight decrease from 76% the previous year.

It is interesting to note that AI adoption has shown fluctuations throughout the year, hitting its lowest point at 63% in January 2024 but rising to 81% in October. These variations may be affected by seasonal work trends, corporate policies, or changes in perception regarding automation.

Despite the widespread use of ChatGPT, the slower growth in its adoption suggests that companies without prior experience with the tool are hesitant to implement it on a large scale. Artis Rozentals, CEO of DeskTime, commented that the use of ChatGPT, while reaching nearly 75% of workplaces in the U.S., may be limited by the adoption of other generative AI tools and corporate policies that restrict its use, as is the case with major companies like Apple, Amazon, and Bank of America.
