Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and Age of Mythology: Retold will arrive on PS5 this year.

Microsoft continues to drive its cross-platform strategy.

Microsoft has plans to bring two titles from the Age of Empires franchise to PlayStation 5 this year: Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. The first of these games, along with its new expansion Immortal Pillars, will launch on March 4. Players can already pre-order the Premium Edition of Age of Mythology: Retold, which will grant them five days of early access starting February 27 and access to the Immortal Pillars expansion. Additionally, those who pre-order on PS5 will receive two exclusive Blessings for the Arena of the Gods mode as a bonus.

On the other hand, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is set to arrive this spring. This game will include not only the base version but also the three downloadable content packs: Lords of the West, Dynasties of India, and Dawn of the Dukes. It is anticipated that the PS5 edition will feature a completely new expansion, including fresh content, new civilizations for competitive play, and the option to play together with players across all platforms.

Michael Mann, director of Xbox's World’s Edge studio, expressed his satisfaction in providing fans with more options to play where they want, emphasizing that this strategy will foster a more united community. "Playing across all platforms is a significant shift for our franchise, and it's about strengthening the Age community. With cross-play, we are creating a global battlefield where every strategy, every empire, and every player matters," he stated.

This year, the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for PS5 is also expected in spring, following its temporary exclusive launch on December 9 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. Additionally, Microsoft recently announced that Forza Horizon 5 will arrive on PS5, with full cross-play support, after more than three years available solely on Xbox and PC.
