La próxima webcam podría ser una cámara de Game Boy

Epilogue está adaptando su aplicación de emulador para convertir las Game Boy Cameras en cámaras web borrosas pero funcionales.

Forget about using your phone's camera or your laptop's built-in webcam; the next big thing could be turning your old Game Boy Camera into a webcam. The company behind this innovation is Epilogue, creators of the GB Operator device, which enables users to play classic Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and Game Boy Color cartridges on a modern PC or a Steam Deck console.

Epilogue has recently revealed plans to update the Game Boy Camera, transforming it into a webcam that offers a fuzzy, low-resolution, 16-kilopixel experience. This transformation is made possible through the Playback emulator app that powers the GB Operator. The company announced that they have successfully established a live feed from the Game Boy Camera, although some adjustments and customization options are still in the works.

Epilogue expressed their excitement about this development, highlighting the blend of nostalgia and novelty that the Game Boy Camera webcam offers. They anticipate users having a unique and enjoyable experience with what they describe as "the worst and the best webcam you'll ever have."

The adaptation of the Game Boy Camera into a functional webcam is not entirely new, as there have been previous fan projects and unofficial hardware recreations. Despite the original Game Boy being over three decades old, its enduring legacy continues to inspire innovative and unconventional uses that spark creativity among users.
