Zomato's CEO shares that romantic messages to his wife inspired the app's notifications to 'strengthen the relationship' with users.

Deepinder Goyal shared details about his love story on 'The Great Indian Kapil Show.'

Deepinder Goyal, the CEO of Zomato, recently appeared on an episode of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, where he shared surprising anecdotes about the company’s creative and playful marketing strategies. Zomato’s clever notifications, which often go viral due to their originality, stem from personal messages Deepinder sends to his wife, Greece Munoz. During the show, he mentioned that the inspiration for Zomato's creative notifications comes from his affection for Gia. “Sometimes, my romantic messages to Gia spark ideas for the app notifications. I must acknowledge the work of our marketing team, who took my suggestion of 'building a relationship with the customer' a bit too literally,” he joked.

Host Kapil Sharma asked Deepinder how he met Greece, who is originally from Mexico. Deepinder recalled that he had been single for a long time and that his friends used to set him up on dates, advising him not to rush into settling down. However, when a friend introduced him to Greece, he felt something was different and had a strong instinct that she could be "the one." He decided to meet her, and a connection quickly formed.

Regarding her appreciation for Indian cuisine, Greece shared her love for chole bhature. Sudha Murty, who was also on the show accompanied by her husband Narayana Murthy, made a humorous comment about how unhealthy the dish is but praised Greece's physical fitness. Additionally, when Sharma asked if Greece had prepared her 'first rasoi' as a girlfriend, Deepinder jokingly said that cooking is "forbidden" in their home since they prefer to order food, in a fun nod to his position as CEO of Zomato.

Greece Munoz, now known as Gia Goyal, has made a name for herself in the modeling and luxury fashion world. Originally from Mexico, she has built her career in the luxury goods business and was awarded the Metropolitan Fashion Week award in the U.S. in 2022. Gia and Deepinder got married earlier this year in an intimate ceremony, followed by a honeymoon in France. This is Deepinder's second marriage; he was previously married to Kanchan Joshi, a professor at Delhi University, with whom he shares a daughter named Siara.
