YouTube takes strong action against misleading titles.
You won't BELIEVE this.
YouTube has decided to take a stricter stance against clickbait, announcing that it will remove content whose titles or thumbnails promise viewers "something that the video does not deliver." This modification will be implemented gradually, starting in India, and is expected to expand to other countries in the coming months, according to a statement from a YouTube representative.
The platform notes that this new policy aims to combat "egregious" clickbait that can mislead viewers, paying special attention to videos that cover "breaking news" or "current events." Among the unacceptable clickbait examples mentioned by the company is a video titled "The President Resigned!" which actually does not deal with a resignation, or a thumbnail of "Top Political News" associated with a video lacking informative content.
During the implementation of this policy in India, YouTube will delete content that violates the rules without penalizing creators, at least initially. The company also indicated that as they continue to educate creators about the new rules, the focus of enforcement will be on videos uploaded in the future.
