YouTube launches a free AI-powered music creation tool for creators.

YouTube has started implementing a free AI music creation tool for creators, according to the platform's official channels.

YouTube has announced the addition of a new feature that allows creators to generate personalized instrumental music using artificial intelligence technology. Through its Creator Insider channel, the platform informed that it is starting to roll out an update to its Creator Music marketplace, which will make it easier for creators to create original melodies using AI prompts. This new service is being gradually deployed for those who have access to Creator Music, the commercial music licensing resource launched by YouTube in 2023.

The goal of the marketplace is to simplify the process of finding suitable music for videos and provide information about the associated costs. With this addition of AI-generated music, creators will have one more free option available to them.

Users who have access to this new feature will find a tab titled "Music Assistant" in Creator Music. In a free text field, they will have the opportunity to describe the type of music they want to create, detailing aspects such as instruments, mood, and the type of video they are producing. Additionally, prompt suggestions are provided to facilitate the start of the process. After the tracks are generated, creators will be able to download and use them in their videos. YouTube assures that this music is free to use, eliminating concerns about copyright claims.

This Creator Music service is available to creators in the U.S. who are part of the YouTube Partner Program. Previously, the company had tested a similar generative AI feature called "Dream Track," developed by DeepMind under the name Lyria, which allowed the creation of 30-second music tracks inspired by famous artists. However, currently, the “Dream Track” feature is focused solely on instrumental music, according to YouTube's help documentation.
