Xbox updates its wireless headset after three years.

Microsoft has launched an updated version of its Xbox wireless headphones, which now offer improved battery life.

Microsoft has introduced improvements to its Xbox Wireless Headset, including advancements in audio, longer battery life, and an upgraded microphone, all for a price of $110, which is $10 more than the previous version. This new model is already available for purchase. The company describes this update as a "refresh," largely retaining the original design, while removing the green ring around the ear pads, opting for an entirely black finish.

The most notable upgrade is the battery life, which now reaches 20 hours of use, compared to 15 hours in the previous model. Additionally, the microphone has been updated with advanced auto-mute and voice isolation features, helping to reduce background distractions. To enhance sound quality, Dolby Atmos has been integrated, allowing for a spatial audio experience at no additional cost, which is particularly useful for games that require rich sound, such as Hellblade 2. It also includes Bluetooth 5.3 for more stable connections between devices.

The previous version of the Xbox Wireless Headset, launched in 2021, is an affordable headset that, while lacking some high-end features found in other wireless models, offers clear sound and the ability to adjust settings on the ear pads. This version, which was priced at $100, was more accessible than other Xbox headsets, including those that are only wired. With Bluetooth connectivity, it was possible to use it with PCs or mobile devices.

The new Xbox Wireless Headset will replace the 2021 model in stores, becoming the only option available in the official Xbox store. Its price of $110 does not represent a significant increase, although it is not negligible either. For those seeking an alternative first-party headset, the only more affordable option is the wired Xbox Stereo Headset, which is currently out of stock.
