Windows warns that Phone Link will not display 'sensitive' notifications from Android 15.

A privacy feature in Android 15 notifications is responsible for that.

The Microsoft Phone Link app has issued a warning stating that smartphones operating on the latest version of Android 15 will not be able to display certain notifications categorized as "sensitive." This information was shared by Mishaal Rahman, who detailed that the warning is due to a new privacy feature implemented in Android 15 that automatically categorizes certain notifications, such as those containing two-factor authentication (2FA) codes, as "sensitive" and blocks access to them for third-party apps.

This privacy enhancement can be beneficial if a user has inadvertently granted a malicious app permission to access their notifications. However, it may also create inconveniences for those who frequently rely on viewing 2FA codes through the Phone Link app on their computer.

Rahman also shared a screenshot showing the warning. According to his observations, Android devices where Phone Link comes pre-installed and have requested a "Complementary Device Role" should still be able to display sensitive notifications. This includes Samsung phones using One UI 6.1.1, but it does not cover other Android devices like Google Pixel or Nothing Phones.

In his October post, Rahman suggested that users might prevent notifications from being hidden by disabling the "Enhanced Notifications" feature in Android 15's notification settings. However, by doing so, options like response suggestions would also be disabled, potentially making it easier for malicious apps to access details of all notifications.
