Why Can't You Find Searches About 'Megalopolis' by Adam Driver on Instagram?

Adam Driver and Megalopolis are not here.

When searching for “Adam Driver Megalopolis” on Instagram or Facebook, users encounter a warning message stating, “Child sexual abuse is illegal,” instead of accessing content related to Francis Ford Coppola's new movie. This strange phenomenon was pointed out in a recent post, and as of today, it continues to appear when making that search.

The reason behind this block does not seem to be related to moderation failures on Threads or surprising revelations about Megalopolis or its lead actor. In fact, Facebook and Instagram appear to be limiting searches that include the words “mega” and “drive.” When attempting to search for those two words together, the warning displays, while searching for “Megalopolis,” “Adam Driver,” or combinations that do not include those specific terms yields normal results.

This is not a new situation, as a Reddit post from nine months ago mentioned a similar issue with searching for “Sega mega drive” on Facebook, although it seems that search is now being conducted without issues.

It has not been clarified why these words are being blocked, and Meta did not provide an immediate response to inquiries regarding the matter. It has been reported that Facebook and Instagram have also restricted other terms that, at first glance, seem innocuous, such as “chicken soup,” because they have been used by distributors of child abuse materials as part of their coded language to avoid detection on the platforms.
