Users are interacting with a new CAPTCHA inspired by DOOM.

CAPTCHA programs, designed to determine whether a website visitor is a human or a bot, are often presented in fairly conventional formats. One example of this is text distortion.

CAPTCHA programs, used to identify whether a website visitor is a human or a bot, typically come in quite standard formats. These include text distortion (where users must type the characters they see among confusing lines), image recognition (selecting, for example, all the boxes in a grid that contain an image of a bicycle), and verification via a checkbox (where users click a box that says, "I am not a robot").

However, Guillermo Rauch, CEO of Vercel, has proposed a new version of CAPTCHAs through the company's AI site generator. This novel proposal invites users to play the classic single-player game DOOM, where they must eliminate at least three monsters to complete the verification.

Although the idea of using DOOM as a CAPTCHA is not entirely original, it has generated significant interest on Hacker News, where it has been well received by the community, mostly composed of developers. Some users have expressed disagreement, considering it too difficult, while others have praised the project, highlighting that it is "very metal." One amusing comment noted that there were so many monsters that it took them 3 to 4 attempts, "just like a real CAPTCHA."
