Tron: Ares Blends Reality with Digital in Its First Trailer.
Tron: Ares imagines artificial intelligence in a physical form.
Disney has recently released the first teaser for "Tron: Ares," the highly anticipated sequel to "Tron: Legacy." Although the one-and-a-half-minute trailer does not reveal many details about the plot, it offers an impressive showcase of the film's visuals, characterized by its dark and melancholic atmosphere, as well as the iconic light trails that define the franchise.
The trailer begins in the physical world at night, where Ares, played by Jared Leto, a Program that has come to life, escapes from the police on a light cycle, slicing a police officer in half with his light trail. Subsequent footage shows a massive airship flying over the real city, visible only by the red stripes of light on its exterior. Additionally, it features scenes of people watching the airship in terror, dogfights between human aircraft and jets from the digital world of Tron, and a moment suggesting Ares receiving his physical form.
All of this is accompanied by music from Nine Inch Nails, who is providing the soundtrack this time. The trailer concludes with a voiceover from Jeff Bridges, reprising his role as Kevin Flynn, saying: “Ready? There’s no turning back.” The film is set to hit theaters on October 10.
Moreover, Disney sent out a poster for the movie in an email to announce the trailer release. During a presentation at CinemaCon, Leto described his character as “a highly advanced program” that has come into the real world on a “life-or-death mission to fulfill its directive,” promising that the film will “hit you on the grid... wherever that is.” Besides Leto and Bridges, "Tron: Ares" is directed by Joachim Rønning and features a cast that includes Gillian Anderson, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, and Cameron Monaghan.
