Trailer for "American Primeval": Netflix Ventures into the American West with a Survival Thriller.
The first trailer for American Primeval, the upcoming limited series on Netflix, addresses the difficulties and brutality of the American frontier in 1857.
In the official trailer for American Primeval, survival is the only goal that matters. The Netflix series presents the harsh realities of the American frontier in 1857. This production fictitiously dramatizes the tensions between culture, religion, and community during a time when several opposing groups fought and perished for control of these lands.
The six-episode series also focuses on Native tribes, such as the Shoshone, Paiute, and Ute, who inhabited the region and suffered great cruelty during those difficult times. Betty Gilpin plays Sara Rowell, a mother seeking a guide to cross the frontier with her son Devin, portrayed by Preston Mota. Taylor Kitsch takes on the role of Isaac, a traumatized man who, albeit reluctantly, helps Sara and Devin on their dangerous journey.
The cast also includes Kim Coates, Jai Courtney, Kyle Bradley Davis, Dane DeHaan, Nick Hargrove, Derek Hinkey, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Shawnee Pourier, Joe Tippett, and Shea Whigham. The direction and executive production of American Primeval is led by Peter Berg, who has previously worked with Kitsch on several projects, such as Friday Night Lights, Battleship, and Lone Survivor. "We thank Netflix for trusting us to take a big gamble with American Primeval," Berg commented. "I am eager to take audiences into the most dynamic, intense, and thrilling survival story possible. We are going deep into the beast."
The script has been written by Mark L. Smith, known for his work on The Revenant and The Midnight Sky, while Eric Newman from Griselda serves as showrunner and executive producer. Berg, Kitsch, and Newman previously collaborated on another Netflix series, Painkiller, which starkly addresses the origins of the opioid crisis. American Primeval is set to premiere on January 9, 2025.
