Tired of the notch on the MacBook Pro? It could be removed with the arrival of the anticipated OLED model in 2026.
An impressive device is on the horizon that will eliminate the notch.
A recent leaked roadmap suggests that Apple plans to eliminate the notch from the MacBook Pro in 2026, replacing it with a circular hole design on the screen. This cutout, which currently houses the cameras and sensors required for the webcam, has been seen as a necessary compromise, but its imminent removal marks a significant shift in the device's aesthetics.
The information was shared by a well-known leaker on X, who relies on data from industry analysts. This roadmap includes details about several future Apple products, promising innovations for its MacBooks and iPads. In the case of the MacBook Pro, the new versions are expected to feature 14.3 and 16.3-inch displays, with rounded corners and a design referred to as "Hole Cut," which will replace the current notch cutout.
The MacBook Air will also show significant changes, featuring a "Notch Cut" on its screen. Throughout this process, the details about the MacBook Pro align with expectations for a device that will include a Tandem OLED display similar to that of the iPad Pro, which will help optimize performance and reduce the thickness of the laptop.
Additionally, the roadmap reveals that a new iPad Air with an OLED display is expected to launch in 2027, and the following year, Apple will release its foldable device. While the authenticity of the roadmap depends on verification, several credible sources have corroborated some of this data.
Over the years, Apple has followed an aesthetic refresh policy every four or five years, and since its last redesign was in 2021, the MacBook Pro is due for an update that could be well-received by its users.
