Three Underrated Movies on Amazon Prime Video You Should Watch This Weekend (December 6-8)

From a neo-noir science fiction film to one of Glen Powell's earliest movies, these titles on Prime Video highlight the number of excellent films available on the streaming platform.

Amazon Prime Video has a wide selection of interesting movies, although finding the desired content can be a challenge, especially if you don't trust the algorithm's recommendations. Here are three films worth watching this weekend, all available on the platform.

True Romance (1993)
This film, written by a young Quentin Tarantino, tells the story of a young man obsessed with cinema who begins a serious relationship with an escort. After a violent encounter where he eliminates her pimp, they embark on a cross-country journey to sell the cocaine they have stolen. The performances by Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette are outstanding, and the film features an impressive supporting cast, including Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer, and Gary Oldman. "True Romance" masterfully blends comedy and suspense, being as good as many of Tarantino's directed works.

Everybody Wants Some!! (2016)
Richard Linklater excels in the genre of social atmosphere films, and "Everybody Wants Some!!" is one of his best works. The plot follows a freshman during his first week at college, focusing on his practice with the baseball team and his discovery of a potential romance. With a role that launched Glen Powell to fame, "Everybody Wants Some!!" is a subtle, comedic, and thoughtful film about life's transitions. While it may not reach the level of "Dazed and Confused," it sits on a similar line.

Dark City (1998)
This film stands out for its impressive production design and world-building. The story follows a man who wakes up to find he is being hunted for a series of brutal murders, though he does not remember if he is guilty. As he unravels the mystery of his identity, he also learns of a deep-rooted conspiracy in the city. The atmosphere of "Dark City" is one of its main attractions, along with the captivating performances of Rufus Sewell and Jennifer Connelly. This film was recognized by Roger Ebert as the best of 1998, and watching it makes it easy to understand such recognition.

These three films offer a combination of humor, emotion, and mystery, all accessible on Amazon Prime Video.
