This small electric truck could be the most affordable yet.
Are you looking for an electric truck but don't want to spend too much? The small Telo MT1 could be the most affordable electric truck option so far.
Electric trucks are gaining popularity, with a notable increase in the variety of models available in the past year. Despite this expansion, it remains difficult to find affordable and compact options on the market. In this context, the Telo MT1 presents itself as an interesting alternative for those seeking an affordable electric truck.
It is important to mention that the MT1 may not be suitable for everyone. Its design is unconventional and does not reach the power of some more expensive competitors. However, its attractive starting price of just $41,000 could be a significant plus. Telo, the Silicon Valley startup that launched this truck earlier this year, initially aimed to create a model the size of a Mini, but with a bed similar to that of a Hummer. Since then, they have developed a configurator that reveals this very low price and are receiving advance reservations, costing $152 each.
The Telo MT1 measures 152 inches long, placing it in a more compact range, reminiscent of a Mini's size. This compactness will likely imply certain limitations in interior space. So far, not many details have been revealed about the interior design or the software experience of this truck, but more information is expected in the coming months.
Regarding specifications, the base model of the MT1 will include a 300-horsepower motor, although there is an option that doubles this figure to 500 hp with a dual motor system. The basic version will feature a standard battery providing a range of 260 miles, while those who desire greater capacity can opt for a long-range battery that extends the range to over 350 miles. The truck’s aesthetics may not appeal to everyone, as it has a build that might seem more playful than robust. Still, it includes two rows of seats and will be available in various colors.
It is relevant to emphasize that the Telo MT1 is not yet on sale. As is the case with many electric vehicle startups, there are no guarantees that the model will meet production and delivery expectations. However, the company has assured that it plans to begin customer deliveries by the end of 2025.
