This is my favorite weather app of 2024.

I have tried many weather apps on both iOS and Android. This one has stood out as my personal favorite.

In 2024, the weather app market has been quite diverse and competitive. After analyzing various options, I decided to test the features that I truly consider important in an app of this type, beyond the basic functions like current weather and weekly forecasts. Finding the perfect app was not an easy task, but I have finally managed to identify my favorite of the year.

A good weather app should offer, at the very least, current conditions and forecasts for both hourly and daily information. These forecasts should include details about temperature, humidity, wind speed, and the probability of precipitation, including the "feels like" temperature. Additionally, it’s crucial to have well-designed radar maps that show storm locations and cloud cover, which are essential when bad weather is approaching. It is also fundamental for the app to provide timely severe weather alerts.

Beyond these essential features, it is advisable for apps to include customization tools. This way, users can have an experience better suited to their needs. The interface should be intuitive and easy to navigate, as one does not want a complicated app. I also believe that the best apps offer additional data like pollen indices, air quality, and sunrise and sunset times.

In terms of more original apps, I tried Weather Fit and RainViewer. The former allows you to create a virtual avatar and choose appropriate clothing based on the weather conditions. Although fun, it lacks all the fundamental features to become my favorite. On the other hand, RainViewer focuses on providing real-time precipitation forecasts, though its limitation lies in its lack of forecasting beyond 24 hours.

Among the apps I tried, Carrot Weather stands out for its combination of accurate forecasts and a humorous style. It offers a highly personalized experience and has a high level of customization in its interface, making it an attractive option. However, the Weather Channel is also well-regarded for its reliability and the breadth of data it provides, including real-time alerts about severe weather conditions and a comprehensive section of maps and radars.

Ultimately, my favorite choice for 2024 is AccuWeather. This app offers an exceptional level of detail, informing not only about when it will rain but also with its MinuteCast feature, which provides updates every minute. Additionally, its RealFeel Temperature feature helps to gain a more accurate understanding of how the weather actually feels. AccuWeather is also very easy to use, with options to customize notifications and track storms through radar maps. The premium subscription option provides even more useful features, such as hourly forecast charts and severe weather alerts. For all these reasons, AccuWeather has become my preferred weather app.
