This elegant artificial intelligence device will transcribe and analyze your conversations at a much lower cost than the competition.
Small in name, dimensions, and cost.
The latest standalone device powered by artificial intelligence to be unveiled is Pocket, a gadget that promises to record, transcribe, and organize conversations for a price of $79. Initial excitement for AI-powered hardware devices has waned, as consumers have shown reluctance towards products like the Humane AI Pin, Paud.AI NotePin, and Rabbit R1, despite their multiple capabilities.
Pocket, developed by Open Vision Engineering, positions itself in the market differently, standing out for its compact design and accessible price. This device, which can be ordered now with scheduled shipping for early 2025, connects to a complementary app available for Android and iOS. Pocket magnetically adheres to the back of smartphones and is activated by a button to record both live conversations and phone calls, ensuring that all recordings are encrypted.
Once recordings are made, Pocket automatically transcribes the conversations and is able to identify multiple speakers in the document. Additionally, it features a Conversation Map function that analyzes interactions and breaks down the flow of discussion, allowing users to visualize how ideas developed, who participated, and how the conversation diverged. This, combined with thousands of customizable templates, provides a flexible way to organize thoughts.
Pocket’s pricing plan includes 200 minutes of free recording per month, and from there users will need to purchase credits, making it more accessible compared to its competitors. For example, the Plaud NotePin, which clips onto clothing, is priced at $169 and offers only 100 additional minutes per month compared to Pocket. There is also the Rabbit R1, which costs $199 and is designed for web searches and app control, while the Humane AI Pin reaches $699 and is operated through voice commands.
Unlike other devices that strive to be flashy or multifunctional, Pocket opts to maintain simplicity. By focusing on recording, transcribing, and organizing conversations, it may find its niche in a saturated market, especially for those seeking a practical way to log their interactions without complications.
