This D&D digital watch allows you to cast a fireball from your wrist.
"Eliminate (and keep) time while obliterating dragons."
Among Dungeons and Dragons enthusiasts, collecting game-related items is quite common. However, few may have a digital clock in their collection. The Timestop D-20 not only tells the time, day, and date but also incorporates dice-rolling functionalities, allowing tabletop roleplayers to make their rolls directly from their wrist with the press of a button.
This watch enables users to roll digital dice of varying sides: 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, or even 100 sides. Additionally, it features advanced combat capabilities that allow users to roll up to 12 dice simultaneously and to use the D20 with advantage or disadvantage, meaning rolling two dice and choosing the higher or lower result. It also displays specific icons when a D20 rolls a 1 or a 20, referred to as "critical failure" and "critical success" within the game context.
The design process focuses on balancing the visual delight of animated dice rolls with a discreet appearance that allows the watch to be worn in any setting, even at the office. It includes a perpetual calendar that complements its functionality as a timepiece.
The starting price is $99, with options available in three colors: black, orange, and stainless steel. Shipments are expected to begin next year, with availability between January and February. It’s interesting to note that, unlike many watches, the Timestop D-20 does not feature an alarm, as its creator states that "they are not fun." However, it does offer water resistance, a backlit LCD screen, and uses a replaceable coin cell battery that can last up to three years with regular use. While the idea of casting fireball spells may not be considered "regular use," the watch certainly presents a more unique way to play compared to traditional dice or digital dice-rolling apps.
