The Y2K trailer takes you on an exciting journey on New Year's Eve 1999.
In the new Y2K installment, two teenagers crash a New Year's Eve party, but by the end of the night, they find themselves caught in a struggle for survival.
The creators of the A24 science fiction comedy Y2K aim to remind viewers of New Year's Eve 1999, presenting them with an unforgettable party from the era. In the new trailer, the protagonists, Jaeden Martell and Julian Dennison, play Eli and Danny, two friends who, frustrated by their lack of social life, decide to sneak into a classmate's party. Eli sees this as an opportunity to impress his crush, Laura, portrayed by Rachel Zegler.
The celebration goes on as planned, but soon a threat arises: the Y2K disaster becomes a reality. Technology turns against humanity, and many partygoers lose their lives violently. In this extreme situation, Eli, Danny, and a few other misfits must band together to confront this artificial intelligence and prevent the extinction of the human race.
The cast of Y2K includes Daniel Zolghadri, Lachlan Watson, Eduardo Franco, Mason Gooding, Miles Robbins, The Kid Laroi, Tim Heidecker, Fred Durst, and Alicia Silverstone. This film evokes a strong nostalgia for the 1990s, with references to dial-up internet, AOL, and music from Fatboy Slim and Limp Bizkit, offering an alternate version of the hysteria surrounding the turn of the millennium.
Kyle Mooney, who also acts in the film, makes his directorial debut with this project, co-writing the script alongside Evan Winter. The producers include Winter, Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, Alison Goodwin, Chris Storer, and Cooper Wehde. The film will premiere in theaters on December 6, 2024.
