The Unreal Tournament soundtrack will have a new remix album, and we’ve gained early access to three tracks.

It sounds incredible.

The video game Unreal Tournament, an iconic title in the first-person shooter genre, remains relevant more than 25 years after its initial release. With the return of its original composers, Alexander Brandon, Michiel Van Den Bos, Peter Hajba, Andrew Sega, and Dan Gardopée, a new remix album titled "Tournament Rematch: Unreal Tournament Remixed" has been announced, featuring a reinterpretation of its famous soundtrack.

This album will be released on January 24 and will be available on major music platforms such as Spotify, Tidal, YouTube Music, and Apple Music. Additionally, Materia Collective, a record label specializing in video game soundtracks, will offer physical versions on vinyl and cassette, which are already available for pre-order.

Just over a week before the release, an exclusive preview featuring three tracks from the album has been shared, including a reinterpretation of the game's iconic main theme.

The first track is "Title," which offers a new version of the main theme of Unreal Tournament. Brandon mentions that this theme, along with that of the main menu, is considered fundamental to the game, even making an appearance in the Unreal Tournament episode of Secret Level on Amazon Prime. The song typically plays while Lani Minella's voice introduces players to the game world.

The second track, "Foregone Destruction," was used in the popular multiplayer map "Facing Worlds." Brandon describes this composition by Van Den Bos as part of one of the most loved maps, highlighting its memorable atmosphere and the connection between floating towers.

Lastly, "Go Down," a frenetic track, originates from the closed map "Deck 16." According to Brandon, this melody is one of the most iconic that has been remixed in Unreal Tournament sequels, and its popularity stems from the intense and fast-paced nature of its gameplay environment.

The album not only revitalizes the music of Unreal Tournament but also celebrates its legacy within the gaming community. The tracklist includes a total of 27 remixed themes, notably featuring "Go Down" in two versions, which is not a mistake.

Although Unreal Tournament is not available on modern digital stores, Epic Games has allowed several fan projects to maintain free releases of Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament, and Unreal 2: The Awakening, enabling the game to remain alive in the collective memory of enthusiasts.
