Konami has released a trailer for Silent Hill f, set in rural Japan during the 1960s.

Konami has revealed a new full trailer for Silent Hill f, a highly anticipated mainline entry in the franchise set in rural Japan during the 1960s, rather than the famous location that names the series. During an online event streamed on YouTube, Motoi Okamoto, the head of the Silent Hill series, shared that the theme of the game revolves around the search for "beauty in terror," a common concept in Japanese horror. He explained that when something is too beautiful and perfect, it can become unsettling.

The developers aimed to explore the coexistence of beauty and terror elements within a psychological horror narrative. In the world of Silent Hill f, the aesthetics are captivating, even in situations meant to evoke fear. The story takes place in the fictional city of Ebisugaoka, inspired by Kanayama, Gero, located in Gifu, a region characterized by its mountains and forests. Players will assume the role of Shimizu Hinako, a high school student who must solve puzzles and face monsters to survive, after her hometown was engulfed by a fog that turned it into a grotesque version of reality.

The setting was largely conceived by Ryukishi07, known for his work on the horror and murder mystery visual novel series "When They Cry." Although a release date has not yet been announced, it is known that Silent Hill f will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games.
