The stunning LG OLED TV makes a surprising return at CES, featuring innovative wireless connectivity.
LG did not unveil this television during its announcement, but still received an Innovation Award at CES.
LG has announced the return of its innovative television known as "Wallpaper TV," which had been discontinued in 2020. The new model, called LG W5, is the evolution of the W7 from the Signature range, which received praise for its slim design that allowed it to be mounted on the wall like wallpaper, using magnets instead of adhesives. However, all the electronics were housed in a separate soundbar. Despite its high price, reaching nearly $20,000 for the largest version, its unique aesthetics and thinness made it stand out in the market.
Recently, the LG W5 was recognized with an innovation award at CES, and information about it is available on the official event website. This new television features a 77-inch OLED screen with a 4K resolution and a thickness of less than ½ inch, allowing it to seamlessly integrate into the wall, avoiding the clutter of visible cables. Additionally, it offers enhanced OLED picture quality with brighter colors and gaming capabilities of up to 144Hz thanks to its latest-generation AI α11 processor.
One of the most notable features of the W5 is its use of the Zero Connect box, the same wireless technology found in the LG M5 model. This innovation allows the television to maintain a clean aesthetic by hiding the box in a cabinet, ensuring that wireless communication is not compromised. Although LG has not clearly explained why it did not present the television in its entirety during CES, expectations are high for the return of an iconic design in the industry.
The LG W5 promises to be a highly acclaimed product due to its advanced technology, although its price is likely to be considerably high compared to other OLED televisions currently available.
