EA is commemorating the 25th anniversary of The Sims by re-releasing the original game and The Sims 2, which are now available for purchase again. Players can buy the titles separately, including the expansion packs, at a price of $20 for the first game and $30 for the sequel. Additionally, a birthday bundle is offered for a total of $40 that includes both titles, available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA app on Windows. Furthermore, EA Play Pro subscribers will have unlimited access to the games in the EA app starting today.

Recently, rumors about the return of these games surfaced after the release of a promotional video showcasing elements of their interface. It is noted that the original version was only available in physical format, while support for the sequel ended more than ten years ago. Since then, users have faced challenges getting the games to run on modern systems. Maxis has worked to ensure better compatibility of these versions with Windows 10 and 11; however, they had to remove one expansion pack and some original songs from The Sims 2: Legacy Collection due to licensing issues.

It's interesting to remember those moments, like when one could play as a child version of themselves in The Sims, perhaps with a body scan saved on a floppy disk. Many players will surely resort to the "rosebud" cheat to get everything they want for their virtual homes, while others might enjoy the classic act of sending a troublesome Sim to the pool and then removing the ladder, which could lead to a visit from the Grim Reaper.
