The Samsung Smart Monitor M9 Expands OLED Capabilities Beyond Gaming.

Prior to CES 2025, Samsung has introduced its first OLED monitor that is not specifically aimed at PC gamers.

Samsung has revealed its first OLED monitor not specifically aimed at gamers, ahead of the upcoming CES 2025. The new Smart Monitor M90SF is a standout model that incorporates OLED technology, marking an evolution of the popular Odyssey gaming line towards a broader audience. This advancement is significant for those interested in creating and consuming HDR content.

The Smart Monitor M9, designed as an entertainment hub, resembles a television that does not require a connection to a PC for operation. Like its predecessors, such as the M80B, this model provides access to Samsung TV Plus, Samsung Game Hub, and nearly all available streaming applications, including a remote control for added convenience.

While complete specifications have yet to be provided, it is known that the Smart Monitor M9 offers a 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 165Hz, a notable increase compared to previous models that operated at 60Hz. This makes it a viable option for gaming and other multimedia applications.

Visually, the Smart Monitor M9 features a refreshed design with rounded corners and slim side bezels. Its frame is only 9.9 mm thick, comparable to that of an iPhone 16. Additionally, it includes advanced artificial intelligence features that optimize image quality based on the content being viewed and adjust settings according to the genre of games, providing a more immersive experience.

An improved version of the AI 4K Upscaled feature has also been introduced, allowing for the conversion of lower-resolution content to 4K quality, as long as it comes from the integrated Smart TV applications or the Samsung Gaming Hub. Although details on pricing and availability have not been revealed, this model is expected to be positioned at a higher range within Samsung's smart monitor lineup, which spans from 27-inch 1080p panels to 32-inch 4K options.
