Following the launch of the 30th anniversary versions of the PlayStation 5 in a retro gray color, Killscreen has unveiled a customized version of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller, dubbed CubeSense. This controller stands out with its purple casing and custom joysticks, inspired by the design of the Nintendo GameCube.
The CubeSense is based on the standard DualSense controller, and while its front features a matte purple finish, the back is transparent. However, the colorful buttons in red, green, and light gray do not follow the unusual design that Nintendo implemented in the GameCube controllers. Priced at $149, Killscreen has replaced the original joysticks of the DualSense with ones that emulate the style of the GameCube Controller, including the yellow stick that had a small button used for camera control in games. It's important to note that, unlike the asymmetric stick layout of the GameCube controller, the joysticks on the CubeSense are positioned side by side.
Additionally, Killscreen offers further customization options for the CubeSense. For $169, users can choose to replace the triggers and bumpers of the DualSense with alternatives that provide a faster response due to their shorter travel, which is beneficial for FPS gamers. There is also the option to upgrade the DualSense's rubber membrane buttons to microswitches for the same price, providing a more satisfying feel when pressed. If users wish to upgrade all the buttons on the controller, the total price rises to $179.
