The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have received an interesting new competitor.

The Solos AirGo Vision smart glasses feature an ingenious modular design that allows you to remove the camera when you don't want to wear it on your face.

The use of smart glasses has evolved, and now Solos presents the Solos AirGo Vision as an interesting alternative in this field. Unlike other models that may cause discomfort due to their design, these glasses stand out for their modular structure, which allows users to interchange the front piece equipped with a camera for one that does not have it. This helps alleviate privacy concerns while still making use of other functionalities.

The camera on the AirGo Vision not only captures images but also facilitates visual searches. Users can "look" at an object and request information from the artificial intelligence integrated into the glasses, which also offers text translation. Additionally, the device provides directions to popular places and restaurant recommendations.

Solos has implemented an open architecture in its glasses, allowing compatibility with various artificial intelligence frameworks, including Google Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude. For those who wish to enjoy AI capabilities without the inconvenience of a camera, Solos’ SmartHinge system becomes a viable option. This system allows users to easily disconnect the arms of the glasses and attach them to a front piece without a camera, minimizing third-party concerns.

Accompanying the launch of the new hardware, Solos has also updated its associated app, which now includes constant background usage. This allows users to interact verbally with the glasses without needing to have the app open. The app also facilitates internet searches, weather reports, and access to news.

The Solos AirGo Vision comes in two frame designs, Krypton 1 and Krypton 2, and offers seven color options. They can be personalized with prescription lenses. There are several alternatives to purchase them: the model with a camera is available for $299, while those who already own Solos AirGo glasses can buy just the front piece with a camera for $149. There is also a purchase option that includes a front piece without a camera for $349.

The main competitor of the Solos AirGo Vision is the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which feature a ring around the camera that lights up to indicate its operation, thereby reducing privacy-related concerns.
