The PlayStation Pulse Elite headphones, which rarely go on sale, reach a record price.
The headset is now priced at $130 and perfectly complements the PS5.
It's uncommon to find the PlayStation Pulse Elite on sale; however, Black Friday season usually presents a good opportunity for retailers to offer special discounts. Currently, Walmart is offering this flagship wireless headset from Sony at a reduced price of $129.99, which represents a $20 discount. While the price cut may not seem very significant, it is the lowest recorded so far.
The Pulse Elite was launched in late 2023 along with other mid-cycle accessories for PlayStation 5, such as the Pulse Explore headphones, which are priced at $199.99, and the PlayStation Portal, a portable companion that has been hard to come by.
This over-ear headset features a retractable microphone and is designed to filter out background noise, offer lossless audio with low latency, and is compatible with the PlayStation Portal, as well as with PlayStation 5, PC, and Mac through the PlayStation Link USB adapter. While many third-party wireless headphones are compatible with 3D Audio (PlayStation's spatial audio interpretation), the Pulse Elite is tuned to provide ideal acoustics and fit, optimizing the gaming experience. Additionally, it uses planar magnetic drivers, which are typically reserved for studio monitors, delivering a more accurate and less distorted soundstage compared to the neodymium dynamic drivers found in most consumer headphones.
Besides its distinctive design, which evokes PlayStation aesthetics, the headset supports Sony's lossless, low-latency wireless audio codec. This feature requires the PlayStation Link dongle, which is compatible with PS5, PlayStation Portal, Windows PCs, and Macs. It also includes Bluetooth capability, allowing it to be used with mobile devices and the ability to listen from both sources simultaneously. The retractable microphone with voice isolation capability makes it easy for both gaming chats and voice calls in any scenario. Whether you own a PS5 or are considering joining the PlayStation world with the recently released PS5 Pro, it could be a good option if you don't already have a suitable headset.
