The next day: X incorporates and then quickly removes Grok's new photorealistic image generator.

The main news this morning includes that X assisted senators in updating the Online Safety Act for Kids, aiming to prevent it from being used to restrict freedom of speech. Additionally, Google has filed a lawsuit following...

A new image-generating tool, known as Aurora, was briefly enabled for testing by some Grok users. The results shared on X showed a significantly more realistic visual quality compared to previous image generators on the same platform. However, this debut was short-lived, as by Sunday afternoon, Aurora was no longer available. During that brief period, Grok users could select the Grok 2 + Aurora (beta) option from the model menu, which has since been replaced by Grok 2 + Flux (beta). It seems that Aurora was made public ahead of schedule.

The previous image generator from Grok was criticized for lacking certain restrictions on the content it could produce, allowing the creation of offensive images of figures such as politicians and celebrities. In that short timeframe, some paying users took the opportunity to generate unusual images, such as a photograph of Adam Sandler and Ray Romano together, or Captain Picard wearing a Christmas hat.

In the realm of regulation, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has ordered federal oversight of Google Payment Corp. after determining that it meets the legal requirements for such oversight. This agency, which monitors banks and other financial institutions, has indicated that measures are needed due to the handling of erroneous transactions and fraud prevention at Google. In response, Google has filed a lawsuit to challenge this decision.

On another note, Fortnite is set to launch a new game mode called Ballistic, which will be available in early access starting December 11. This mode will allow for a tactical first-person shooting experience in a 5v5 format, where one team must plant an explosive device while the other attempts to prevent this from happening.
