Rode has launched the latest version of its renowned Wireless GO microphone system. The third generation brings a series of new features, especially when compared to the Wireless GO II version released in 2021. This new microphone allows recording in 32-bit float, and audio can be captured directly on the receiver. The system offers the capability to store up to 40 hours of recording internally, in addition to incorporating an innovative technology called GainAssist.
GainAssist is a compression algorithm that helps dynamically balance audio levels in real time, eliminating the sharp fluctuations that often arise in raw recordings. According to the company, using this system should minimize the need for post-editing. Should the algorithm fail, the microphone features a secondary storage channel that records an unprocessed copy of the audio.
Generally, users will connect these microphones to a camera, so internal storage may not be essential. The new Wireless GO system has a range of operation of up to 260 meters from the receiver, as long as there is a line of sight. Additionally, it is compatible with all Rode Series IV devices, including the RodeCaster Pro II and Rodecaster Video, and offers universal compatibility with cameras, smartphones, and computers.
The system also includes locking lavalier connectors and an integrated LCD screen, which allows monitoring of battery levels and audio signal. This edition of the Wireless GO is available in several limited colors, such as red, orange, pink, and purple, unlike its predecessor, which was only offered in black and white.
This new Wireless GO microphone kit includes a receiver, two transducers, a charging hub, various windshields, and multiple cables, all for a price of $300. A dedicated charging case is also available separately for $90.
