The new remastered collection of Tomb Raider includes the lowest-rated title in the series.

Three more Tomb Raider games are being remastered, allowing players to return to the most troubled phase of the series.

Eidos Interactive, in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, has announced the release of a new remastered trilogy of Tomb Raider, which includes titles from the series' second trilogy. This pack will feature "The Last Revelation," "Chronicles," and "The Angel of Darkness," the latter considered by many to be the weakest in the franchise. The collection, titled Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, will come with significant enhancements, such as updated graphics, options to switch between classic and modern controls, as well as over 150 new trophies for achievement hunters. A photo mode will also be included, which was present in the remastering of the earlier titles.

This trilogy represents a peculiar period in the history of Tomb Raider. After the resounding success of the original game, Core Design, the initial developers of the series, faced pressure from Eidos to release a new title every year. However, this constant production led to potential creative fatigue and the unsuccessful attempt to eliminate Lara Croft, who "died" at the end of "The Last Revelation," although her popularity guaranteed her return. "Chronicles," released the following year, did not achieve the expected success, being considered the biggest failure of the series until "The Angel of Darkness" was released. The latter faced multiple issues, being the first Tomb Raider game for PlayStation 2 and suffering from severe technical problems.

Despite the criticism, "The Angel of Darkness" sold well, highlighting the need for a renewal in the series. Those interested in reviving these games, which marked the end of the first era of Tomb Raider, will be able to do so starting February 14, 2025, and they will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, at a price of $30.
