Recently, an analysis revealed that PC gamers may have received an unwanted gift from Nvidia during the holidays: a reduction in their video game performance. The tests included several titles, such as Black Myth Wukong and Baldur's Gate 3, and performance drops were recorded across all of them. The issue seems to be related to the Nvidia application, which was designed as an all-in-one solution for downloading new drivers and other features. However, this software includes "game filters" powered by artificial intelligence that, in theory, should enhance the appearance of games. These filters are enabled by default and can impact the frame rate even if they are not directly applied to the game being played.
Nvidia has acknowledged the issue and provided instructions to disable this feature and restore proper performance. To do this, users should:
- Open the Nvidia application and go to Settings.
- Navigate to Features.
- Select Overlay.
- Access Game Filters and Photo Mode and disable the game filters.
