The new Garmin watch has an exorbitant price, but I still want it.
The new Garmin Marq Adventurer in Damascus steel is expensive, even by the standards of the Marq line.
Garmin has introduced a new ultra-premium line of smartwatches, the Marq series, which stands out not only for its functionality but also for its focus on sleek design. Unlike other models such as the Instinct series, known for its robustness and adventure watch appearance, or the more conventional Venu and Vivoactive 5, the Marq range draws inspiration from luxury analog watches, with each model highlighting a specific theme.
For instance, the Garmin Marq Aviator is designed with weather reports for airports, making it ideal for pilots. In contrast, the Marq Captain features a classic dive watch design and includes a regatta timer on its bezel. On the other hand, the Marq Adventurer is a premium smartwatch equipped with a 360-degree rotating bezel and all of Garmin's advanced adventure features, such as support for topo maps and all-day blood oxygen monitoring.
In its latest version, the Marq Adventurer Gen 2 features a Damascus steel construction, known for its superior strength and attractive wave-like design. The Garmin Marq Adventurer (Gen 2) Damascus edition is complemented by a hybrid leather and FKM rubber strap and retains Garmin's distinctive five-button design. This exclusive watch is priced at $3,100, £2,799, or AU$5,500.
Its eye-catching design, featuring the characteristic pattern of Damascus steel, makes it one of the most impressive smartwatches on the market today. While there are no significant functional differences compared to other premium models like the Garmin Fenix 8, the quality of its components justifies the cost. This watch, which could easily be mistaken for something out of an adventure movie, combines timeless aesthetics with modern technology, ensuring it won't be relegated to a museum.
