The new Fortnite mode is a FPS very similar to Counter-Strike.
Get ready for Ballistic.
Epic Games is about to allow Fortnite creators to publish experiences with first-person modes. To showcase what can be achieved, Epic itself will launch a tactical first-person shooter reminiscent of Counter-Strike or Valorant. This new mode, named "Ballistic," is described as "an adrenaline-filled competitive game based on 5v5 rounds, where strategy, tactical teamwork, and individual talent are essential for achieving victory."
Players will be divided into two teams: one will need to plant the bomb, known as the "Rift Point Device," while the other team will have the task of defending. Between each round, participants will be able to acquire gear for the next one. Teams will switch sides after six rounds, and the first team to win seven rounds will be declared the victor.
This is not the first time Epic has drawn inspiration from other game ideas for Fortnite; its racing and festival modes borrow heavily from Rocket League and Rock Band, both owned by Epic. Additionally, the Lego survival mode bears similarities to Minecraft, and it has been acknowledged that the now-removed Impostors mode was influenced by Among Us. In fact, the game's main battle royale mode emerged from the success of PUBG.
Aiming to transform Fortnite into a platform more akin to Roblox, where players are encouraged to explore multiple experiences, modes like Ballistic and Reload allow Epic to experiment with different concepts without altering the essence of battle royale. One factor that could motivate Epic to introduce more experiences is that the outfits and gear acquired by players generally apply across all modes.
Ballistic will enter early access on December 11. On the same day, Fortnite creators will be able to publish their own experiences with first-person modes. The arrival of Ballistic coincides with a period of great activity for Fortnite, which kicked off its Japanese-themed season earlier this week and launched a permanent version of its OG mode on Friday.
