The new Dynamic Folio case from Moft transforms the iPad for better ergonomics.

You must know when to give up.

Moft has introduced a new folio case for iPads that promises to improve the ergonomics of the device for those who work with the Apple Pencil or enjoy watching videos. This new product, known as the Moft Dynamic Folio, features a design inspired by origami that allows it to transform into a stand that can elevate the iPad by up to three inches. Additionally, there are configurations that enable you to hold a smartphone simultaneously, providing more functionalities compared to the limited folding options of Apple’s Smart Folio.

The company will launch its Dynamic Folio through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, which has exceeded its funding goal of $10,000. The case will be available in three sizes, compatible with the iPad Mini and 11 and 13-inch versions of the iPad, Pro, and Air. Early backers can pre-order for $34 for the Mini model, $45 for the 11-inch version, and $55 for the 13-inch model, although final prices are expected to be approximately $39, $49, and $69, respectively. Shipping is anticipated to begin as early as May 2025.

Made with fiberglass covered by a scratch-resistant vegan leather material called MOVAS, the larger version of the Dynamic Folio adds 292 grams to the weight of the iPad, making it lighter than Apple’s cases. It adheres magnetically, allowing for easy removal when you want to use the iPad without the case, although its design does not fully protect the device on all sides, unlike many silicone cases. When positioned, the Dynamic Folio helps protect the screen and back of the iPad from scratches, but it leaves several sections exposed. In the event of a fall, there is a possibility that the iPad could be damaged depending on how it lands.

The main uses of the case include two floating modes. One elevates the iPad by two inches at a 30-degree angle, ideal for working, playing, or browsing, while the other positions it at a 60-degree angle three inches above a table, perfect for reading or watching videos. The Moft case can also be folded in several additional ways, allowing the tablet to be supported in both vertical and horizontal modes, adding a holder for a smartphone, or facilitating its balance on your lap when you don’t have access to a work surface. Moft also offers an optional holder for the Apple Pencil that magnetically attaches to the case, providing greater protection for the costly stylus.
