The new Dune edition of Rivian lets you unleash your inner Fremen.
Starts at $99,900.
Rivian has unveiled the California Dune edition of its R1 electric vehicles, specially designed to tackle off-road challenges. This model features new 20-inch All-Terrain tires, an exclusive color, and a protective shield on the vehicle's underside, ideal for those seeking adventures in tough terrains. The company emphasizes that vehicles in this edition are "built to handle the most challenging landscapes."
The California Dune version is based on Rivian's tri-motor powertrain, delivering 850 horsepower and 1,103 lb-ft of torque. This allows for acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, with an estimated EPA range of 329 miles. However, the exclusivity of this edition comes at a price, starting at $99,900 for the R1T truck and $105,900 for the R1S SUV.
The new All-Terrain tires are available in two designs: the newly introduced dark tires and those featuring the California Dune finish, which matches the car's body color. This new color is inspired by the delicate natural hues of desert dunes, offering earthy tones that create a warm and neutral feeling.
Inside, Rivian has also updated the design with a new two-tone interior option that combines Sandstone with Black Mountain. Additionally, they have improved the floor mats, making them more durable and easy to clean to quickly remove sand and other off-road debris.
Users also have access to a variety of accessories, including dark-colored Maxtrax recovery boards, perfect for helping if the vehicle gets stuck in deep sand. The California Dune edition also includes new dark crossbars and a motorized tonneau with a refreshed design.
This announcement comes just ahead of a key financial report for Rivian, which will reveal fourth-quarter results, as well as full-year figures and outlooks for 2025.
