CNBC has decided to enter the streaming world with a new service called CNBC+. This platform will offer a global livestream featuring financial news related to the markets in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia. Additionally, subscribers will have access to full episodes of on-demand shows. The app is available on both iOS and Android devices, as well as on its website.

According to reports, CNBC officially announced this new service and its pricing plans on January 1, sending an email to those who had signed up for the network's digital offers. It's interesting that a new product aimed at business and finance professionals is being launched at a time when many businesses are closed. This introduction comes at a delicate moment, as CNBC's parent company, Comcast, plans to spin it off into a new company, which could complicate the launch of such an expensive endeavor.

Cost is, in fact, a significant factor. Not only does maintaining a digital platform incur large expenses, but the fees for users are also high. The basic subscription is priced at $15 per month. Meanwhile, the Pro level, which includes additional stock valuations and a My Portfolio feature, is offered at $35 per month or $300 per year. For the most passionate followers, there is an All Access plan that allows participation in an online investment club run by Jim Cramer, at a notable price of $600 annually.

This is not the first time a cable news channel has attempted to launch an independent streaming service. Warner Bros. Discovery launched CNN+ in March 2022, but shut down the service just a few weeks later. It will be interesting to see if CNBC+ can remain active for a longer period.
