The new Amazon Kindle family introduces the first color model.
Goodbye, grayscale.
Amazon recently introduced four new Kindle e-readers. Among them is the Colorsoft Signature Edition, marking the debut of the first color Kindle, along with a new Kindle Scribe for note-taking, a faster version of the popular Paperwhite, and a new entry-level model.
The Colorsoft Signature Edition is designed to provide a rich, paper-like color experience for book covers and highlighted text. It allows zooming in on images without fear of pixelation, featuring both standard and vibrant color styles. This model is water-resistant and includes fast page-turning, wireless charging, up to eight weeks of battery life, and a new light guide with nitride LEDs. It will be priced at $279.99 and will start shipping on October 30.
The new Kindle Scribe combines e-reader and note-taking functions. Its 300 ppi display has white edges and is designed to deliver a paper-like feel when writing, using Amazon's Premium Pencil with a soft-tip eraser. Moreover, it offers an innovative book writing experience, allowing users to add notes directly to book pages, with text flowing around them. Users can also add notes to a sidebar that can be hidden later. The integrated notebook utilizes artificial intelligence to summarize texts into concise points. Notes can also be converted into a readable format with a font that mimics handwriting. This device, priced at $399.99, will be available for shipping starting December 4, with pre-orders already underway.
As for the new Kindle Paperwhite, it is described as the "fastest Kindle to date." This best-selling model features a larger 7-inch display, making it thinner than its predecessors, and offers a battery life of up to three months. It is water-resistant and has a storage capacity of 16 GB. The price for the Kindle Paperwhite is $159.99, while the Signature Edition is available for $199.99 with 32 GB of storage, wireless charging options, and automatically adjustable front light.
Finally, a new entry-level model was announced, which will also be available starting today at $109.99 and weighs only 5.6 ounces. This entry-level Kindle offers a non-reflective 300 ppi display with faster page turning and 16 GB of storage, making it ideal for one-handed use or for carrying in a back pocket.
More details about these devices are expected to be revealed soon, including links to purchase or pre-order the latest Kindles.
