The new AirPlay options in macOS offer a higher level of privacy.

The latest beta version of macOS has introduced changes to the options available when using AirPlay to mirror the screen. The new beta of macOS Sequoia 15.2 allows users to select a single window or application on their Mac to display on another device, such as a TV, a Vision Pro headset, or potentially a new Apple smart device.
macOS 15.2 is expected to be released to the public in early December. This update will also include new features related to Apple Intelligence, such as Image Playground and the integration of ChatGPT for Siri. Additionally, a new item will be added to the weather menu that shows the outside temperature at a glance.
The revamped AirPlay experience features a pop-up menu that asks, "What do you want to display?" when using an Apple TV. This menu presents three large buttons that allow users to choose from sharing the entire screen, a specific window or application, or extending the display. A default option can also be set if users frequently share something particular.
In previous versions, the screen mirroring option offered a simple drop-down menu that only allowed users to choose between mirroring or extending the screen via AirPlay to the Apple TV, with no option to select a single window. When selecting one of these options, the screen would instantly connect to the receiving device, which could cause confusion for those who do not use AirPlay regularly.
