The new 10-port USB-C hub from Plugable is just what my nightstand needs.

Plugable has introduced a new multi-port USB-C hub capable of powering or charging up to 10 connected devices through smart power distribution and an easy-to-understand priority-based charging system. This new hub, called the PS-10CC, will be available to consumers via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Early backers can purchase it for $59, while the retail price is expected to be around $99, with deliveries anticipated in January 2025.

Backing a crowdfunding product entails a degree of risk; however, Plugable has successfully launched three devices in previous campaigns and has indicated that it already has functional prototypes of its new PS-10CC. It is important to note that users will need to provide their own power adapter for the hub.

The PS-10CC is capable of delivering up to 100W of power across the 10 ports, thus removing uncertainty about which ones have enough power to charge larger devices, such as laptops. However, it cannot provide 100W to all ports simultaneously, nor even to two. The power input is limited to 100W, which must be distributed among all the ports.

While the hub can power 10 devices at once, as long as their total consumption does not exceed what the adapter can provide (an adapter with at least 18W of power delivery is required), its design prioritizes power to the devices that need it most. By using real-time current detection technology and a system that organizes devices from left to right based on priority, the PS-10CC will redistribute power as higher-priority devices reach their full charge.

While users will need to determine which devices need charging first, eventually all connected devices will be powered. Its limited power capacity may not be the ideal solution for a desk crowded with gadgets that includes multiple computers, but if you're managing a nightstand full of phones, smartwatches, tablets, headphones, and e-readers, the PS-10CC could help meet your nighttime charging needs.
