The Max plan from Anthropic allows nearly unlimited use of Claude for $200 per month.
Similar to OpenAI, Anthropic has launched its own $200 per month plan aimed at advanced users.
Anthropic has decided to launch a new, more expensive option for its main chatbot, thus joining OpenAI in this market segment. This Wednesday, the company introduced the Max Plan. From now on, users can choose to pay $100 or $200 per month to access Claude with usage capabilities up to 5x or 20x greater than what the current Pro plan allows. Anthropic mentioned that the creation of this tier is due to the growing demand for Claude 3.7 Sonnet, a hybrid reasoning model that excels at programming tasks and has garnered significant interest from users who want greater availability to use it.
The cost of tokens for Claude 3.7 Sonnet is considerably higher compared to what other companies like Google charge for access to lighter models, which has led Anthropic to not yet be in a position to offer unlimited use of this new model. However, it is important to note that even OpenAI's Pro plan, at the cost of $200 per month, has its own limitations, including monthly restrictions for "very resource-intensive" features, such as Deep Research.
One of the reasons behind the offer of two pricing tiers in the Max Plan is to provide flexibility to customers as their needs change. Additionally, users who enroll in this new tier will have priority access to new models and features as Anthropic rolls them out.
