The Magic Mouse, Keyboard, and Trackpad from Apple Finally Incorporate USB-C.
Apple's mandatory transition from Lightning to USB-C in the European Union has already impacted much of its hardware, although some lagging models remain.
Apple has begun transitioning its desktop accessories to the USB-C standard, following European Union regulations. While much of its hardware has already adapted, products like the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad were still using the Lightning connector. On Monday, the company announced the availability of USB-C versions of these accessories, along with a refresh of the iMac M4.
The prices of the new accessories remain identical to the previous models, with the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and numeric keypad priced at $199, the Magic Trackpad at $149, and the Magic Mouse at $99. All of them are offered in black and white color options, and matching versions will be available with the new iMac. Unlike the new iMac, which will not start shipping until November 8, the accessories are already on sale and can be shipped immediately.
Despite the change in connector, there have not been many modifications to the devices, including the criticized placement of the port on the bottom of the Magic Mouse. This iMac update, along with the accessory refresh and other announcements from Apple, marks the beginning of a week filled with news. Among the latest rumors is the potential arrival of a new Mac Mini that could be similar in size to the Apple TV.
