The Livall PikaBoost 2 turns any old bike into a powerful e-bike.

Electric bikes can be expensive, but what if you could convert your current bike into a powerful e-bike? That's the proposal of the PikaBoost 2.

Electric bikes are a popular choice among cyclists, but their price is often significantly higher than that of traditional bicycles, and they can also be heavier. They require maintenance and may present technical issues. However, there is an innovative solution to convert any regular bike into an electric one: the Livall PikaBoost, which is now in its second generation.

The PikaBoost 2 is a compact, motorized device that attaches to the bike frame, extending towards the rear wheel, provided that the tire width is between 23 mm and 32 mm. At its end, it features a rubber wheel that spins the tire when activated, eliminating the need for manual pedaling. It is controlled via a wired remote that is placed on the handlebars, making it easy to use. After installation, using a specific tool included to secure the device, it achieves remarkable electric performance.

It is important to note that, although the PikaBoost 2 does not match the power of electric motors found in many high-end electric bikes, it offers good performance for its size and cost, reaching up to 500W of maximum power or 100W continuously. It can reach speeds of up to 15 mph.

This device has several operating modes: the training mode, which adds resistance; the eco mode, which assists pedaling mainly uphill; and the cruise mode, which provides constant power without the need to pedal. The PikaBoost 2 houses a 158Wh battery, which, according to Livall, offers a range of approximately 43 miles, although the actual distance will depend on use. There is an upgraded battery option that reaches a range of 59 miles. Additionally, to recharge it, you simply need to detach the battery and plug it into an outlet. It is compatible with USB-PD 3.1 and QuickCharge 3.0, allowing for a full charge in three hours.

While it is not the first conversion kit for electric bikes, what sets the PikaBoost 2 apart from the competition is its easy installation and affordable price. Livall plans to start mass production of the PikaBoost 2 by the end of August, with shipments beginning in September. It will be available for a price of $500 through the company's website, and it is also planned to be sold on Amazon, though likely at a slightly higher price.
